Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. An alternative form of notice for the award of Royal Medals was resolved, full text entered into the minutes. Letter from Mr. Owen reporting the thanks of Dr. Schwann for award of the Copley Medal. Letter from T. Crofton Croker, 4 Hyde Park Gate South, Kensington Gore, 25 March 1846, to the Secretary of the Royal Society, full text entered into the minutes: on behalf of the Council of the British Archaeological Association, noting railway tunnel construction in the vicinity of Greenwich Observatory, and its possible impact on observations; the Secretary to inform Mr Croker that the Royal Society will not interfere but that the Astronomer Royal and Admiralty would take care that no injury should arise.
