DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: Sir William Burnett; Samuel Hunter Christie; Dr Charles Daubeny; Reverend George Peacock, Dean of Ely; Thomas Galloway; William Robert Grove; George Rennie; Peter Mark Roget; Lieutenant-Colonel Edward Sabine; Charles Wheatstone; the President, Spencer Joshua Alwyn Compton, 2nd Marquess of Northampton, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Dr. Daubeny applied on behalf of the Ashmolean Society of Oxford, for a grant of Philosophical Transactions, approved. Resolved that 250 copies of the Report of the Charter Committee should be printed for members of Council. The Committee of Physics [and the Committee of Geology, omitted from the minute] to meet to recommend the award of Royal Medals. All books belonging to the Society to be returned to the Library by 26 July and the Library to be closed for August. Six weeks' leave of absence granted to the Assistant Secretary. The Treasurer authorised to have window frames painted in the Assistant Secretary's room. Letter from Dr. Lee requesting to withdraw his paper on the nervous system of the uterus; this to be preserved in the archives, but Dr. Lee permitted to take a copy.
