DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: Francis Baily; Benjamin Collins Brodie; Marc Isambard Brunel; John George Children; William Clift; Michael Faraday; George Bellas Greenough; Reverend George Peacock; Peter Mark Roget; the Treasurer, John William Lubbock, in the chair; succeeded by the President, His Royal Highness [Prince Augustus Frederick, Duke of Sussex] in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Mr. Halswell applied via Michael Faraday, for an extension of the time for admission to the Fellowship, necessitated by a severe accident, granted. Letter read from Dr. Rosen, applying on behalf of Mr. Hermann Brockhaus of Leipzig, for permisison to consult the Society's oriental manuscripts, granted. Letter from Mr. Edward Snell, estimating £14 12s., as the cost of providing fixtures and rehanging portraits in the Meeting Room, the Treasurer authorised to proceed. Section 3 of Chapter 3 of the Statutes referring to annual payments of £40 to be repealed. Resolved by ballot that the new statute to include payment of £60 from 4 December 1834. Draft of a new statute stating that Fellows who have published a paper may compound for the sum of £40.
