DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: John George Children; Michael Faraday; Reverend Dr. Philip Jennings; William Hasledine Pepys; the Treasurer, John William Lubbock, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Letter from Mr. F. Baring, Treasury Chambers, to the Duke of Sussex, President of the Royal Society, full text entered into the minutes: noting that the rooms formerly occupied by the Exchequer Offices were now available for the Royal and Royal Astronomical Societies, with an associated memorandum from Charles Brown, for the King's Remembrancer. Council examined the rooms approving the sum of £64 5s. 9d., to be paid to Mr. Cubitt. Rooms on the principal and upper floor to be completed according to Cubitt's plan and estimates: other alterations including a doorway to be opened, room coals and candles granted to Mr. Roberton, and bookshelves to be erected.
