DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: Charles Frederick Barnwell; William Thomas Brande; John George Children; Dr. Henry Holland; Reverend Dr. Philip Jennings; Charles Konig; William Parsons, Lord Oxmantown; Peter Mark Roget; the Treasurer, John William Lubbock, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Resolution on the repeal of Statute V Chapter 1 stating that no elections of Fellows of Foreign Members shall take place except in certain months. Letters requesting Donation Fund grants referred to the Donation Fund Committee; Letter from Mr. Panizzi, stating that the Library Catalogue would be ready to go to press in two or three days with 24,000 titles: £150 voted to him, making £450 in total. Letter from T. C. Robinson requesting permission to verify British Association thermometers against the Royal Society's standard thermometer by Dolland, permission granted. Letter from Mr. Baily, requesting volumes of Philosophical Transactions 1820-18127 for the Royal Astronomical Society, granted, 1823-1827. Letter from Mr. Archibald requesting permission to copy portraits of William Hyde Wollaston, Davies Glbert and Sir Everard Home, granted, and from Mr. Crosthwaite requesting permission to copy the portrait of Davies Gilbert, granted. Mr. Cubitt's bill of £74 15s ordered to be paid. Treasurer authorised to erect a gallery in the Library, according to Mr. Snell'sestimate. Letter from Messrs. Arnold and Dent, requesting permission to examine papers relating to Harrison's chronometers, with a view to possible publication, granted.
