DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: Charles Frederick Barnwell; William Thomas Brande; Sir Benjamin Collins Brodie; John George Children; Dr. Henry Holland; Reverend Dr. Philip Jennings; Charles Konig; Herbert Mayo; William Parsons, Lord Oxmantown; Sir John Rennie; Peter Mark Roget; Reverend William Whewell; the Treasurer, John William Lubbock, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Application made by Richard Owen for use of the plate illustrating Sir Anthony Stape's paper on the Physiology of the Stape, granted; A sum not exceeding £100 from the Donation Fund granted for the construction of a heliostat by Mr. Dollond, directed by Sir David Brewster. £50 from the Donation Fund granted to Charles Wheatstone, subject to approval by a sub-committee. Mr. Ulrick's application for a grant from the Donation Fund referred to a sub-committee. Letter from Mr. Glover, stating that the Philosophical Transactions in His Majesty's Library at Windsor if imperfect, applying for copies; to be complied with, as far as possible while retaining the Society's duplicates. All books borrowed from the Library to be returned by 1 September, Mr. Roberton to report on borrowers not returning volumes.
