DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: Charles Frederick Barnwell; William Thomas Brande; John George Children; Michael Faraday; Reverend Dr. Philip Jennings; Charles Konig; Reverend Baden Powell; Sir John Rennie; Peter Mark Roget; Dr. Edward Turner; Reverend William Whewell; the Treasurer, John William Lubbock, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Report from the committee appointed to consider Mr. Ulrich's application to the Donation Fund, Ulrich had not given details of his proposed model and therefore the committee did not think it necessary to give an opinion: Council referred the matter back to the committee, asking if they would advise giving a grant. Letter from Sir John Barrow, requesting the Admiralty's use of a plate of Professor Barlow's variation chart, granted. Letter from John George Children, British Museum, 4 November 1835, to John William Lubbock, full text entered into the minutes: containing extracts from letters of Augustus Frederick, the Duke of Susssex, noting his deteriorating eyesight and his promise to resign as President of the Royal Society if his situation did not improve and offering his service for another year, with the agreement of Fellows. Resolution to retain the Duke of Sussex as President. List of President, Officers and Members of Council for recommendation at the Anniversary Meeting. The Treasurer applied, on behalf of Dr. Hussey, for the loan of Troughton's repeating circle and and the stands for Mr. Lloyd's level, granted.
