DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: John George Children; Samuel Hunter Christie; Reverend James Cumming; Joseph Henry Green; Charles Konig; William Lawrence; John William Lubbock; Herbert Mayo; Roderick Impey Murchison; Sir John Rennie; Peter Mark Roget; the Treasurer, Francis Baily, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed, and the Reverend James Cumming was sworn in as a new Member of Council. Application made by Sir John Herschel for the first part of Philosophical Transactions for 1828, granted. Application for an extension for admission to the Fellowship made by Mr. Lloyd, granted. Appplication from P. Hebler for a grant of Philosophical Transactions for the Royal Library in Berlin, declined. Resolution that the purpose of the fifth section of Chapter 11 of the Statutes was to prevent discussion not connected with the business of the Ordinary Meetings. Letter from Mr. William Herschel Griesbach of Bremen announcing his discovery of a perpetual motion.
