DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: Francis Baily; Marc Isambard Brunel; Reverend Dr. William Buckland; John George Children; Samuel Hunter Christie; Benjamin Gompertz; Joseph Henry Green; George Bellas Greenough; Charles Konig; William George Maton; Roderick Murchison; William Hasledine Pepys; Peter Mark Roget; Reverend Richard Sheepshanks; John William Lubbock, Vice President and Treasurer, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The Treasurer noted that he had returned thanks to the Speaker of the House of Commons and had preferred an additional request for past Reports, but had received no reply; the Secretary requested to wait upon the Speaker. Letter from Mr. Bevan suggesting an investigation into the modulus of elasticity of gold, if he was furnished with a prism of gold: the Society unable to comply with his request. Mr. Wyon's bill of £64 for two Rumford Medals, to be paid. Letter from H. Balliere, Regent Street, 14 March 1833 to J. W. Lubbock, full text entered into the minutes: requesting that Council settle his account for books, his bill for £95 18s. 6d., ordered to be paid. A bill for books from Mr. Maynard, for £24 3s. 6d., ordered to be paid. Mr. Hudson requested to copy all resolutions relating to the method of conducting Council business from the last five years. One hundred copies of Council Minutes to be printed in future for the use of Council Members only. List of names of candidates for Foreign Membership, with five to be proposed to the Society for election at the next meeting. The Dean of Chichester requested an extension of the period for admission to the Fellowship, granted.
