Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The clock in the ante-room to be cleaned and placed in the Library. Letter from Anthony Panizzi, British Museum, 25 June 1836, to the Secretaries, full text entered into the minutes: expressing surprise at receiving a letter from the Assistant Secretary requesting that he attend a meeting of the Catalogue and Library Committee; repeats his terms for continung by having his work independently assessed by referees. The Secretary reported that in the absence of explanation as to why Panizzi objected to the committee's resolutions, the committee could not proceed further. Resolved that Panizzi should consider the remarks of the committee as suggestions for his guidance and that Panizzi should expedite the scientific portion of the work already set up. Mr. Shuckard to have leave of absence 11-25 July. |
