DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: John George Children; Samuel Hunter Christie; Joseph William Green; Dr. Henry Holland; Charles Konig; John William Lubbock; Herbert Mayo; Roderick Impey Murchison; Peter Mark Roget; the Treasurer, Francis Baily, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Letter from Anthony Panizzi read, resolved that Mr. Children supervise the accurate counting of Library Catalogue slips with a view to any financial settlement with Panizzi. Letter from George Dollond, 31 October 1836, to John George Children, full text entered into the minutes: after examining instruments returned by Sir James South, Dollond noted that fluid has escaped from the correcting lens of Mr. Barlow's telescope, rendering it useless until repaired and the outer object glass lens was scratched; the transit instrument appeared to be in good condition but required full examination. Treasurer reported not being satisfied with the demand for sewer rate, Mr. Few to be consulted. Proposals of candidates for the Copley Medal: Professor Berzelius, George Newport and Francis Kiernan. Sir Charles Bell applied to take 1,000 impressions from the plates illustrating his paper on the voice, granted.
