Among matters discussed or noted: a letter from Sir Herbert Taylor, Windsor Castle, 25 March 1833, to the Duke of Sussex, full text entered into the minutes: on the terms of the award of two Royal Medals annually. Discussion of the Royal Medals, with a list of subjects eligible, and the appointment of committees on astronomy and physiology to recommend the medal winners, with prize questions for subsequent years. Minutes of the last meeting were then read and confirmed. Five Foreign Member candidates recommended for election: Professor Desfontaines, Professor C. G. J. Jacobi, Baron Lindenau, Professor J. H. Meckel and M. G. de Pontecoulant. Minutes of Council for the present session to be printed for Council Members. Copies of Abstracts from 1800 to be granted to Societies entitled to Transactions and to Foreign Members. Mr. Pettigrew given leave to copy his paper on corpulency. Letter from J. Stewart, Treasury Chambers, 16 March 1833, to the Secretary, full text entered into the minutes: acknowledging the receipt of the report on the hygrometer of the Excise. Letter from Professor Choisy of Geneva, requesting that his Society be added to the list to receive the Philosphical Transactions, granted. Letter from W. S. O'Brien requesting Transactions for the Limerick Institution, refused, on the grounds that the Institution could not reciprocate. Abstracts from 1800 to be sold to non-subscribers. 250 copies of the Observations of the Tides at Sheerness to be printed, superintended by Mr. Dessiou. The Entomological Society to be added to the list for receiving Transactions. |
