DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: John George Children; Samuel Hunter Christie; Dr. Henry Holland; Charles Konig; William Lawrence; John William Lubbock; Herbert Mayo; Sir John Rennie; Peter Mark Roget; Captain William Henry Smyth; the Treasurer, Francis Baily, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Resolved by ballot that Copley Medals be given to Professor Berzelius for his work on mineral bodies, and to Francis Kiernan for his discoveries in the structure of the liver. Bills for engraving and other expenses ordered to be paid. Resolution from the Society of Antiquaries, noting that they would pay the shared porter £30 per annum. Treasurer requested to wait on the President to offer congratulations on the recovery of his sight.
