DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: William Allen; Dr. John Bostock; John George Children; Samuel Hunter Christie; George Bellas Greenough; Charles Konig; John William Lubbock;; Reverend George Peacock; Peter Mark Roget; Captain William Henry Smyth; the Treasurer, Francis Baily, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Treasurer reported that he had entered into an agreement to appoint George James Holtzer, as joint Porter, at £30 per annum, the Society of Antiquaries to pay the same: with a list of conditions of employment. An additional sum of £10 for the employment of a messenger and details of coal and candle allowances. The Board of Longitude in Paris applied for Philosophical Transactions for 1823, which they had not received, granted. Applications for Philosophical Transactions received from the Zoological Society, the Institute of British Architects and the Royal Institute of Amsterdam, granted. Mr. Roberton applied to be excused from taking meteorological readings on Sundays in part, a person to be employed to do this. List of candidates for Foreign Membership, four to be selected at the next meeting.
