DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: Dr. John Bostock; William Cavendish, Earl of Burlington; Joseph Henry Green; George Bellas Greenough; Charles Konig; William Lawrence; Dr. John Lindley; William Haseldine Pepys; Peter Mark Roget; Captain William Henry Smyth; the Treasurer, Francis Baily, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The Earl of Burlington sworn in as a new Member of Council. Letter from John Bicknell, Abingdon Street, 6 February 1837, to Francis Baily, full text entered into the minutes: requesting a Trustee to serve on behalf of Sir John Soane's Museum, the matter to be considered at next Council. Letter from Dr. Prout recommending that Mr. Newman's bill be paid, Newman reducing £6 from the cost of the platina cistern; £32 19s. 3d. bill to be paid. Letter from Edmund Halswell stating that his subscriptions were not paid due to the neglect of his agent and asking to be re-instated now that he has settled the arrears: Halswell to be proposed for re-election. Four candidates for Foreign Membership selected by ballot: M. Becquerel, Christian Gottfred Ehrenberg, Vice-Admiral Krusenstern and C. F. Brisseau-Mirbel. Thomas Graham requested an extension to his admission to the Fellowship, granted. Application from the printer for a ruling on the long list of addenda to Dr. Phillips's paper for Philosphical Transactions, the proposed additions and corrections not to be appended. Letter from G. B. Airy applying on behalf of Dr. Lamont of the Munich Observatory for copies of the Greenwich Observations, granted. The ante-room, lately occupied by Mr. Roberton, to be fitted up for the use of the President, Mr. Children to enquire what furniture to Duke of Sussex required.
