DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: Dr. John Bostock; John George Children; Samuel Hunter Christie; John Frederick Daniell; William Haseldine Pepys; Peter Mark Roget; Charles Wheatstone; Reverend William Whewell; the Treasurer, Francis Baily, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Nomination of Vice-Presidents for the year. Re-appointment of committees. with membership and terms of reference: Donation Fund Committee; Library Committee; Catalogue Committee; Magnetical Committee; and the Medal Committee. Mr. Walker's bill for £119 for engraving plates for Philosophical Transactions to be paid. Applications by James F. W. Johnston and Robert Bigsby for extensions to admissions for Fellowship, granted. New Members of Council made and signed the declaration in lieu of the oath.
