DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: Dr. John Bostock; Samuel Hunter Christie; John Frederick Daniell; John Forbes Royle; Peter Mark Roget; Captain William Henry Smyth; James Walker; Charles Wheatstone; Reverend William Whewell; the Treasurer, Francis Baily, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Applications from James Batemen and Joseph Glynn for extensions for admissions to the Fellowship, granted. Letter from Sir Andrew Leith Hay, explaining his non-payment of subscriptions and asking to be re-proposed by Council into the Fellowship, so ordered. Creation of a committee on physiology, to which papers might be referred and which might promote experimental research; with a list of members. Michael Faraday applied for leave to print one hundred copies of his last paper in Philosophical Transactions, granted, at Faraday's expense. Notice from the Custon House of a box of unclaimed books, the Treasurer authorised to pay duties incurred. James Mease applied to take a copy of a paper on dry rot in ships, granted. Letter from George Newport, vindicating himself from the imputations of Marshall Hall.
