AdminHistoryIn 1988 Jones began corresponding with Ulrich Walter, a German astronaut in training for the D2 shuttle mission. Walter divulged that the mission still had room for a few 'pocket experiments' - experiments that could be tried in spare moments. He agreed to put forth Jones' proposed experiment, to investigate whether a chemical garden can develop in space, to the D2 scientific committee. The proposal was accepted. The D2 mission took off on April 26 1993.
