| Citation | Assistant-Director of the Royal Gardens, Kew. Formerly Fellow and Dean of King's College, Cambridge, and University Lecturer in Botany. Distinguished as a botanist by his researches on protoplasmic continuity in plants, and on various problems of systematic and economic botany. Has travelled in South America, Algeria, and the West Indies for purposes of botanical investigation.
