TitleDawson, Harry Medforth: certificate of election to the Royal Society
CitationDistinguished for contributions to Physical Chemistry represented by a long series of papers mostly in the Journal of the Chemical Society. (1) Investigations of the dynamics of chemical change, particularly of the effects produced by acids and salts in catalysed reactions. (These have demonstrated the catalytic activity of the non-ionised acids and of the corresponding anions and have provided a simple and general method for the co-ordination of the various catalytic effects associated with acids and the corresponding salts). (2) Studies of the constitution of solutions and, in particular, of solutions containing complex compounds, eg, metal ammonia, polyhalogen compounds, etc. (3) Studies relating to equilibria in homogeneous systems.
