Description | Citation typed |
Citation | The first general pathologist to devote himself to ocular pathology, he has made great advances in this subject. His studies on the retinal circulations demonstrated the cause of retrolental fibroplasias and led to the disappearance of this blinding disease. His investigations into the microcirculation of the eye and the exit-pathways of the aqueous considerably clarified the aetiology of glaucoma. He is distinguished for his work on diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy, having introduced several new techniques in the study of their pathogenesis, particularly the experimental production of similar lesions by introducing microspheres into the circulation. |
