Title | Nabarro, Frank Reginald Nunes: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Description | Citation typed |
Citation | Distinguished for his contributions to the theory of dislocations and other defects in crystals; and their influences on the mechanical properties of solids. His early work on precipitation hardening laid the foundations for the modern theory of the strength of alloys and he predicted, from theory, the process of vacancy creep which has proved to be of great practical importance, particularly for the performance of nuclear reactor fuel elements. He has also made many contributions to the theory of the dynamical properties of dislocations and his new book 'Theory of Crystal Dislocations' will undoubtedly become the definitive work in the subject. |
