A Gentleman of general Learning & eminent in his Profession particularly curious in Enquiries in Natural History especially in the nature of Mines, upon which head he hath already communicated Several curious papers to the Royal Society and hath made Several Experiments in Order to Explain the Cause of the Fire-damps and foul Air &c and to prevent the great Mischief which is So often done in Coal-mines by Such Vapours & Steams, who being desirous of becoming a fellow of this Honble Society is recommended by us as one worthy the Honour and likely to become a usefull Member |
