CitationDon Antonio de Alloa of Seville in Spain, lately come from Peru, where he had been Several years making Astronomical, Geographical and Philosophical Observations, and where he has in conjunction with the Gentlemen of the Royal Academy of Sciences at Paris, measured an Arch of almost 3 degrees and a half of the Meridian for the determination of the Question concerning the true figure of the Earth: is proposed by us as a candidate for election into this Royal Society, an honour he is as desirous of as his Modesty will allow and we do hereby recommend him him as a Gentleman of merit, Learning, and knowledge, every way well qualified to be a usefull member of our body.
