CitationFather Charles Walmsley Benedictine of Paris, and Member of the Royal Academy of Sciences at Berlin, being very desirous of the Honour of becoming a Fellow of this Royal Society, We do hereby propose him, and as well upon our own knowledge of his merit and reputation, as upon a very ample Certificate of the Same Signed by our worthy brethren at Paris Messieurs de Buffon, de la Condamine, d'Alembert, de Jussieu, de Fouchy, Sallier, le Monnier Needham and Cantwell, hereby recommend him as a Gentleman of very distinguished merit and Learning, every way well qualified to be a usefull and valuable member of the Royal Society. He is Author of two late excellent Works upon the Analysis of the Measures of Ratios and of Angles, and upon the Theory of the Motion of the Apsides of the Planets, both of which Works he has lately made us a present of.
