CitationMr John Lodge Cowley, Professor of the Mathematics in the Royal Academy at Woolwich, a Gentleman well skilled in his Profession, and Natural Philosophy; and who has heretofore published some Tracts on Mathematical Subjects, particularly an Appendix to the Elements of Euclid, a Treatise on Perspective &c. which illustrated the Doctrine of Planes, Solids, and their Sections by moveable Diagrams, being desirous of becoming a Fellow of this Royal Society, We therefore DO, upon our own personal Knowledge of him & his Abilities, recommend him as a Person very deserving of the Honour he sollicits, and DO believe he will be a very useful Member
