CitationSir Edward Thomason of Birmingham in the County of Warwick Knight, is desirous to be come a Fellow of the Royal Society - Sir Edward has exerted his best endeavours during a Space of nearly 40 Years to improve the various branches of the Arts in Scientific research; and has reward for such individiual Merit, the honor of Knighthood from his own Sovereign, and also many distinguishd orders of Merit from foreign Potentates. - he was very active in the Originating of the Birmingham Philosophical Institution and in Common with other Fellows of that Society deliverd Lectures on some of the branches of Science
