The author of Papers on the Analysis of Nitrogen compounds, on the Air and Water of towns, and on other subjects, chiefly chemical and sanitary, published in the Memoirs of the Chemical, Manchester Literary and Phill, and other scientific societies; of Reports to the General Board of Health on Sanitary Science and Economy, and to the British Association on the Air & Water of Towns ; and of the Memoir of Dalton adopted by the Lit and Phill Society of Manchester, comprising a History of the Atomic Theory. Distinguished for his acquaintance with the science of Chemistry and the Literature of Chemical Science. Eminent as a Chemist, and for his exertions in the cause of sanitary reform.
