Is the Author of a Paper on "Floating Docks" published in the Transactions Inst of Mechanical Engineers of 1867; - also of a Paper "On the influence of form in relation of the strength of Materials" read before Sect G of the British Association in 1869 and ordered to be published in extenso with the Reports - also a Paper read before Sect G of BA in 1871 on "Car's Disintegrator" being an inquiry into certain physical principles of action involved in that machine which Paper has also been printed in extenso in the Proceedings. - He is the Inventor of several mechanical arrangements of merit in the treatment of Iron and in the oeconomical use of Steam. - Is distinguished as a Civil Engineer and is largely consulted on questions of applied Science.
