Was appointed to take charge of the whole expedition which left England in Feb 1875 to observe the Total Eclipse of the Sun in India and Siam as long as the Expedition remained united, and afterwards of that branch which went to Siam.
The Report of the Expedition was drawn up by Mr J Norman Lockyer and Dr Schuster.
