Title | Creak, Ettrick William: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Citation | Has in the Compass Department of the Admiralty, had long and varied experience in the Magnetism of Iron Ships and the treatment of their Compasses. Also in the organization of Magnetic Surveys undertaken in recent years in HM ships, and the discussion of the observations made. Is the author of two papers published in the Society's Proceedings entitled - "On the effects of iron masts on compasses placed near them". 1875. and, "On the results of the Magnetic Observations made by the officers of the Arctic Expedition, 1875-1876". - 1879. Also a paper on "Nautical Magnetic Surveys", read at the Science Conferences South Kensington 1876. Is anxious to promote Science generally and especially that of Terrestial Magnetism. |
