| Citation | Ex-Demonstrator of Animal Morphology in Cambridge and Superintendent of the Marine Biology Association, Plymouth. Balfour Student of the University of Cambridge, 1890-1893. Member of the Evolution Committee of the Royal Society, 1896-1904. Distinguished for his researches in mammalian embryology, and especially for those on the phenomena of ovulation, menstruation and heat in mammals.
