| Citation | University Lecturer in Palaeozoology, Cambridge. He has materially assisted in the advancement of science by teaching the methods of scientific research; he is the author of scientific treatises of value (of the more important of which a list is subjoined); and he is distinguished for his knowledge of palaeontology and especially of the fossils of the cretaceous rocks.
