CitationDistinguished Protozoologist, whose long-continued and wide-reaching original work upon Foraminifera of all seas has advanced very greatly our systematic and faunistic knowledge of the group; both British and exotic forms, and made known many new and interesting data relating to their life-history, bionomics and occurrence in space and time. Besides discoveries in their poductive processes and their remarkable use of materials for building, he has recently made known species which bores in molluscan shells, and a living species known as a Cambrian fossil. It is known that Mr Heron-Allen has been engaged for years on a comprehensive memoir on the British Foraminifera, for which he has accumulated a vast amount of material, descriptions and drawing. Principal scientific publications: - 'Prolegomena of the Chalk Foraminifera' (London, 1893); 'Bionomics and Reproductive Processes of the Foraminifera' (Trans Roy Soc, 206); (jointly with Mr Earland - Mr Heron-Allen being the senior Author), 'On Cycloloculina, a new Generic Type of the Foraminifera' (Journ Roy Micros Soc, 1908); 'On the Recent and Fossil Foraminifera of Selsey Bill' (ibid, 1909-1911); 'On some new Astrorhizidae, &c' (ibid, 1912); 'The Foraminifera of Clare Island District' (Proc Roy Irish Acad, 1913); 'The Foraminifera of the Kerimba Archipelago' (Trans Zool Soc, 1914); 'The Foraminifera of the West Coast of Scotland, &c' (Trans Linn Soc, 1915); 'The Foraminifera of the British Antarctic Expedition' (Trustees of the British Museum).
