CitationStudent of S African insects, especially Coleoptera and Lepidoptera, upon which he has published many papers. From 1909 to 1912 organized the work of the Entomological Research Committee for Tropical Africa (Colonial Office). Inaugurated and edited the quarterly 'Bulletin of Entomological Research,' now in its 10th volume. The success of the Ent Res Committee led to its extension in 1913 to the British Empire as the 'Imperial Bureau of Entomology,' supported by every Dominion and Colony. Organized and edited for the Bureau the monthly 'Review of Applied Entomology,' vols I-VII.
