CitationMr Twyman, for whom application rests on the invention or material improvement of scientific appliances, methods and processes, particularly apparatus designed for interferometer and spectrum observations and the structure of fine spectral lines, is distinguished by his knowledge of Optics applied to the design of instruments. In this connection it may be noted that his appliances were employed in over 100 researches described in leading British, American, French and German publications since 1910. Author of numerous papers on optical subjects in the Proceedings of the Physical and Optical Societies.
