TitleKenner, James: certificate of election to the Royal Society
DescriptionDate stamp on reverse
CitationDistinguished as an Organic Chemist. Has demonstrated the existence of molecular asymmetry in derivatives of diphenyl which could not have been predicted from earlier views on the constitution of benzene and the nature of the single bond. Has investigated among aromatic compounds a type of substitution not previously understood, providing for it a theoretical basis confirmed by experiment in complete accord with the later theory of induced alternate polarities in organic compounds. His published papers also include noteworthy contributions to the study of ring formation and stability, of steric hindrance and of tautomerism.
