CitationDistinguished as an investigator in connection with biochemical and nutritional problems. The results of his researches have proved important in their bearing on the aetiology and treatment of disease. The following are selected from his contributions to science: - 'Creatine and Creatinine' (Journ Physiol, 1908); 'The Production of Histamine in the alimentary Canal' (ibid, 1912); 'The Metabolism of Lactating Women' (Proc Roy Soc, 1913); 'An Experimental Investigation on Diarrhoea and Vomiting in Children' (Quart Journ Med 1916); 'Alcohol, its Absorption into and Disappearence from the Blood' (Med Res Coun Repts, and Brit Journ of Inebriety, 1920); 'The Experimental Production of Thyroid Hyperplasia' (with May Mellanby); and 'The Application of the Results to the Treatment of Exophthalmic Goitre' (Journ Physiol, 1921); 'Experimental Rickets' (Med Res Coun Special Report).
