CitationDistinguished for his researches on the theory of elastic stability and of the vibrations in rotating systems on which he has published papers in the Phil Trans (1913) and Proc Roy Soc (1921, 1922, 1924). During the war he was in charge of the Design Department for non-rigid Airships at Kingsnorth Air Station, and later he was placed in charge of the Aerodynamic and Strength Testing of Aeroplanes at the Royal Aircraft Establishment at South Farnborough.
