CitationDistinguished for his contributions to Mycology. In his books 'Researches on Fungi' (Vol I, 1909; Vol II, 1922; Vol III, 1924) he has developed a field of work of his own and has markedly advanced our knowledge of the production, liberation and dispersal of the spores of the Hymenomycetes and Uredineae. He and workers in his laboratory have also made valuable contributions to our knowledge of sex and inheritance in the Basidiomycetes. He has in addition to his books published over thirty original papers.
