CitationDistinguished for his work in Physical Chemistry. By his discovery of a number of homogeneous gas reactions, and by his interpretation of his experimental results he has made important additions to our knowledge of the mechanism of chemical change. He has also worked on surface catalysis, and on the comparison of heterogeneous and homogeneous gas reactions. He has published over 30 papers on these and kindred subjects, and 'The Kinetics of Chemical Change in Gaseous Systems' (Oxford, Clarendon Press).
