TitleSalaman, Redcliffe Nathan: certificate of election to the Royal Society
DescriptionDate stamp on reverse
CitationHas worked on the genetics of the Potato and has obtained varieties combining resistance to 'blight.' 'Phytophthora infestans', with some degree of commercial productivity. His researches on the Virus diseases of the potato (five papers in the Proceedings of the Society, 1929-1930-1932) have contributed largely to the understanding of this complex group. He has identified distinct bio-types of one virus and has shown that inoculation with one form can confer immunity against a distinct virulent virus. He has isolated virus-free stocks of potatoes preparatory to a scheme for their multiplication and distribution.
