TitleFleure, Herbert John: certificate of election to the Royal Society
DescriptionDate stamp on reverse. Citation typed
CitationDistinguished for his researches in the Anthropology and Human Geography of Western Europe and especially of the British Isles. He has organised and is continuously carrying out racial surveys of the British people, district by district, only parts of which have yet been published . In the course of this work he has demonstrated the persistence in Wales of men with groups of physical characters that distinguished a special type of upper Palaeolithic man. He has linked up history and archaeology with past and present geographical conditions. His work is characterised by its breadth of outlook.
