CitationDistinguished for his researches in Experimental Zoology, especially on the phenomena of amoeboid movement. A series of eight papers on the latter subject has been published in Proc Roy Soc B, Journ Mar Biol Assoc and Journ Exp Biol (1923-1931). He has also published a series of important papers dealing with the adaptation of estuarine organisms ('Gunda ulvae'), in particular to variations in salinity.
