CitationDr Jackson has made important contributions to dynamical and observational astronomy, including papers on the Eighth Satellite of Jupiter, Retrograde Satellite Orbits, the Orbits of Neptune and of Mercury, the Constant of Nutation, Hypothetical Parallaxes of Double Stars and on Orbits of Double Stars. With W Bowyer, he has published several papers on the performance of the Shortt Clocks. The important 'Reduction of Hornsby's Observations, 1774-1798' (in conjunction with H. Knox-Shaw and W H Robinson) was published in 1932. With F J M Stratton, he edited George Darwin's Collected Works, Vol V. He was in charge of three eclipse expeditions from Greenwich (1927, 1929, 1932).
