CitationMain research, X-ray analysis of crystal structures, particularly those of metals and alloys, by the 'powder method.' Has greatly improved and developed this method, making it applicable to more complex structures. Has applied it to study or alloy phases, and to the elucidation of equilibrium in systems of three or four metals. This latter work has opened up a new field of great interest. Has also studied origin of high coercivity in permanent-magnet alloys. 37 papers in Proc Roy Soc, Phil Mag; J Inst Metals, Z fur Krist etc.
