TitleBulman, Oliver Meredith Boone: certificate of election to the Royal Society
CitationDistinguished for work on Graptolites, Vertebrates and Palaeozoic stratigraphy. By means of a skilful technique he has made important contributions to knowledge of the morphology, ontogeny and phylogeny of graptolites, establishing the relationship of the Dendroidea, and the origin of biserial and other types (Monograph of Dendroid Graptolites, 1927-1934, and 22 papers in 'Arkiv for Zool', 1932-1936 etc.). In 'Handb d Palaozool,' 1938, gives a comprehensive and critical account of the 'Graptolithina.' Has elucidated the morphology of 'Branchiosaurus, Lasanius, Palaeospondylus.' Has proved (with Stubblefield) the existence of a full succession of Tremadocian in Shropshire; (with Williams) established the age of the Snowden lavas. His studies of Ordovician graptolites of Peru and E Asia are of stratigraphical importance.
