TitleStubblefield, Sir Cyril James: certificate of election to the Royal Society
DescriptionDate stamp on reverse
CitationC S Stubblefield has done much morphological work on trilobites, establishing, for instance, the locus of the growing point of post-cephalic segments. He has also furnished accounts of trilobite classification and a masterly treatment of the migrations of British Lower Palaeozoic trilobites. Among graptolites he has elucidated developmental history of early British species and strengthened the link between Dendroidea and Graptoloidea. In stratigraphy he has described a new Cambrian area in Shropshire and detected lower Devonian strata in the Lizard Peninsula. He has assisted co-workers not only individually, but also through editorship of the Handbook of Geology, 1929, and the Palaeontographical Society's publications, 1934 onwards.
