TitlePeierls, Sir Rudolf Ernst: certificate of election to the Royal Society
CitationHe has made some of the earliest and most important applications of quantum mechanics to the electron theory of metals, and he gave the first correct theory of the absorption spectra of non-metallic solids; he has also made important contributions to the theory of alloys and of supra-conductors.
