CitationIs a distinguished morbid anatomist and histologist whose researches have, for the most part lain in the field of experimental pathology. Has made valuable additions to our knowledge inter alia of the histogenesis of liver changes and functional derangements induced by various ligation procedures, of the effect of thyroid feeding on the islets of Langerhans, and of the phenomena of induced inflammation in annelids. Profound knowledge, clarity of exposition, and command of operative technique are displayed in his published work. In more recent years, has become expert in devising technical methods for the accurate testing on animal tissues of a wide range of toxic chemical substances. Hygiene and industry have thereby benefited and his secret reports on the pathology of conditions induced by certain war gases have been of outstanding value to the war effort.
